New partnerships with Amma and introducing the “Natural Elephants”

At Elephant Branded we always love hearing about similar adventurers and social businesses out there trying to make a difference around the world.

Josie is just one of those, after training at Central Saint Martins in London she headed off to Sri Lanka to work with local ladies to hand make products and give back to the local community.

We at Elephant Branded are delighted to have teamed up with Josie and her brand AMMA to showcase the Natural Elephants!

I will let Josie introduce the range and her bag design:

“Our Carry Courage Bag is an effort to showcase our regenerative business style. When we begin to observe the interwoven nature of life, we learn to love our ecosystem and everything it offers us. Our eco-friendly bag does this by complementing mother nature. It is handwoven raw, and each meter of fabric is dyed using nelli fruit to create a wonderful spectrum of greys.

We practice zero-waste cutting in our workshop so you can be sure every piece of fabric has gone to use in this handy carry bag. It has two versatile strap lengths offering an effortless and easy shoulder bag or handbag. This bag is also reversable, designed to be worn fresh every single day. Loose side ties also feature to make it easy to roll, tie up and pack into a suitcase for your travels. Finally, a handstitched AMMA label is attached onto one side giving it a delicate yet personal finishing touch.

This product was made with great intention by all 10 of our mother makers. From dyeing to drying to the sensitive setup of the sewing machine; each process is carried out by local women in Sri Lanka’s tea estates. AMMA ensures our workers are paid a fair wage for their work and provided with dignified employment. With a heart that puts people and the environment above profit we create beautiful products that breathe new life into the fashion industry.
